hat care
These instructions will help you with cleaning and avoid damage to keep your hats fresh.
Key tips to your hat looking good as new
- Avoid subjecting your hat to excessive heat or unnecessary sunlight (e.g. the back window of a car).
- The sun will dry out straw hats and cause them to crack or deteriorate faster than usual.
Brimlock (the synthetic wire in the brim of many hats) will often go out of shape if exposed to heat. - For marks or stains, first check the tag for washing instructions. If there are none, consider hand washing your hat in cold water, using a mild detergent if necessary.
- Dry the hat in a well-ventilated area away from sunlight.
How to Clean Felt or Dress hats
When felt hats have gathered dust you can use a brush or a bit of tape using the dabbing on dabbing off method. We have a video below of one of our staff members cleaning up a wool felt hat for a customer. We would highly recommend it if you are looking to freshen up your hat.
