How to take care of your hat
Learn how to clean and care for your hat to keep it in tip-top condition!

Don’t squash it!
Store your hat on a shelf or hook, or use a polystyrene or plastic hat block to help it keep its shape. Make sure not to put other things on top of it. Out of season, keep your hat clean clean by storing it in a box, plastic bag or even a basket.

Store in a cool, dry place
Avoid exposing your hat to excessive heat and unnecessary sunlight, like in the back window of your car! Brimlock (the synthetic wire in the brim of many hats) often goes out of shape if exposed to heat, and the sun will dry out straw hats, causing them to crack or deteriorate faster than usual.

Removing dirt and stains
Check your hat’s label and follow the washing instructions. If there’s no information on the tag, here are a few tips to help:

We recommend cleaning by hand and using a mild detergent in cold water.
Before putting the whole hat underwater, start cleaning one section first. Use a wet wipe or wet flannel to gently remove any excess detergent and leave the hat in a well ventilated area to air dry. Don’t dry it in the sun, as it can cause the hat to fade.
If the whole hat is dirty, and there’s been no damage to the hat or colour seeping into the water, you can soak the whole thing for 45 minutes. Then rinse the hat off and air dry it in a well ventilated area.
If there are any stains, rub on a stain remover and leave for 5-10 minutes.
If your hat can be machine washed, we recommend putting it in a garment bag and using cold water on a gentle cycle. Pretreat any stained areas with a stain remover.

Removing dust
If your felt or dress hat is dusty, or is covered in fluff or dirt, use a lint brush or even some sticky tape. Brush over the inside and outside of the hat with a lint brush. Tape is really handy if there’s anything in the creases that won’t brush off. Simply wrap a piece of tape around your fingers, sticky side out, and dab it on the hat.

Repairs
Depending on the style, we can re-shape your hat and clean it for you. We also do other repairs including re-wiring, fixing broken straps and snapbacks, and repairing holes. Need a repair? Please email a photo to shop@hatworx.com or pop into the shop and show us what needs to be done!

New Zealand Delivery

The standard delivery time is 1 - 2 business days for orders within the North Island, and 2 - 3 business days for the South Island.

Please allow an extra day for Rural Delivery addresses. If your order is received by 2:00 PM on a business day it will usually be shipped the same day, if not it will be shipped the next day!

Our shipping prices are calculated on weight and volume, so the bigger the product or the more products you order the more it will cost to get it to ya! The standard rate is $7 nationwide and $11.00 for rural delivery. 

Prices vary between:

Nationwide -- $7.00 - $16.00

Rural Delivery -- $11.00 - $17.00

Depending on stock levels, some bulk orders are shipped from our store and some are shipped from our warehouses. Orders shipped from the warehouses are usually despatched the next day, so please allow an extra day for delivery.

Exchanges And Refunds

Online: Products ordered online may be returned or exchanged within 14 days of purchase for incorrect sizing or colour, or if we have sent you the wrong style.
 We are sorry that we are unable to exchange something simply because you don't like it or you have changed your mind.
 A handling/re-stocking fee of 15% - 20% + shipping costs will apply on refunds.
 No refund on all shipping costs.

Warranty

We stand behind every product we make and sell. If for any reason the product is faulty we will Replace or Repair it or make sure it is put right.
